Can the West Learn to Love the Islamists?

This article from Time discusses the reality of a Tunisia governed by an Islamic Party. Rather than condemning the parties, it examines the relationship between the Islamic parties and the West. In other words, it tells of how the West should stop worrying and learn to accept the Islamists. While most of the articles regarding the Tunisian elections show that there is a lot of worry around how Ennahda will actually govern Tunisia, this particular article strives to show that Democracy and Islam can go hand in hand. While Ennahda says that it isn’t seeking a monopoly of power in Tunisia, it will be interesting to see how the constitution is written under an them. Ennahda says that they will seek the help of other parties in the drafting of the constitution, but only time will tell.
